I'm always interested in new online services and Web2 sites and the enormous buzz around pownce caught my attention. Most seemed to be focused on the Kevin Rose involvement rather than any implicit value in the site.
I got an invite a few days ago and signed up. Yes it's pretty. It has the basics of Twitter with addition of URL and file sending. It I was 15 years old and wanted to send dodgy MP3s to my buddies all day long maybe this would be interesting. As it is, I can't see the point.
I played and added a few friends. And then I stopped. Why? NO BLOODY RSS! Seriously, launching a web-site in 2007 without RSS just says "screw you users, we want your eyeballs". Are the developers all ex-Facebook or Bebo? I refuse to use any site which requires me to visit it constantly.
Even with RSS, it is so utterly derivative and devoid of innovation I won't be using it
